About MKE Locksmith

Last updated: May 2026.

Who we are

A local Milwaukee-metro locksmith service covering the City of Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, West Allis, Greenfield, Cudahy, St. Francis, Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Glendale, Mequon, Brown Deer, and Bayside. Built around three things: posted pricing, fast 24/7 response, and the same crew on dispatch that shows up at your door.

What we do

We handle residential, commercial, and automotive locksmith work - lockouts, rekeys, lock changes, smart-lock installation, panic-bar service, master-key system rebuilds, transponder key cutting and fob programming, and safe service including older Group 2 mechanical-dial models. We are not a national franchise routing your call through a 1-800 dispatcher to whichever van is closest.

Why posted pricing matters in Milwaukee

Wisconsin is one of only a handful of US states that does not require a state-issued locksmith license. That regulatory gap means anyone with a van and a Google ad can call themselves a locksmith. The result, in Milwaukee specifically, is a market full of bait-and-switch shops that advertise $19 service calls and bill $300+ once they arrive. Our response is to publish the real ranges up front. The cost guide shows exactly what your job should run before you call. The FAQ answers the questions people actually ask.

What we will not do

We will not quote one number on the phone and another at the door. We will not pressure you to upgrade hardware you do not need. We will not start work without an itemized quote you have agreed to. If we cannot solve a problem (some safes do require destructive entry; some specialty automotive transponders need a dealer programmer we do not carry), we will tell you on dispatch and refer you to someone who can.

Service area

Our primary service area is Milwaukee County plus the North Shore and Mequon. Inner-ring response is 20-35 minutes. Outer suburbs 25-45 minutes. We can quote drive time honestly for jobs outside that footprint - sometimes it makes sense, sometimes a closer locksmith does.

Insurance and verification

Fully insured. Wisconsin does not require a state locksmith license; we maintain general liability and bonding above industry minimums.. We will email a current Certificate of Insurance on request before the truck rolls. Ask the dispatcher.

Pricing transparency
